(“Favourite” as in which animal species, for of course Gioia still is my dearest animal!)

Look at those furry cute balls up in the gumtrees! Would you not immediately like to take a koala home or have it sleep on your shoulder? Well, I would love to! But since they are a protected species, I had to content myself with just observing them and have Jose take as many photos as possible.

We were lucky enough to see koalas on two occasions: the first time on Phillip Island in a koala sanctuary (see last post) and the second time on Magnetic Island, where they were living freely. Both times, those marsupials were merely sleeping, since they are mostly nocturnal and need about twenty hours of sleep a day.
